| Albert Feilzer (1957) studied dentistry at the University of Amsterdam (1982). In 1989 he obtained his PhD-degree on the thesis entitled ‘Polymerization Shrinkage Stress in Dental Composite Resin Restorations, an in-vitro investigation’. On June 2009 he received a master degree in Health Care Management. From 1982 to 1998 he worked part time in his own dental clinic in Amsterdam as dentist-general practitioner and part-time as academic researcher at the Department of Dental Materials Science of the Academic Center of Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). In 1998 he changed to a full-time occupation at ACTA, half-time as director of the Institute of Dental Care of ACTA (1998-April 2001) and half-time as professor in Quality of Dental Materials, Instruments and Techniques in the department of Dental Materials Science. This chair was as an endowed chair established by the Royal Dutch Dental Association (KNMT), which was converted into a normal chair in Dental Materials Science in January 2003. From July 2001 to January 2007, he works, besides his occupancy at ACTA, also for one day a week as Professor of standardization in the department Management of Innovation and Technology of the Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University Rotterdam). This endowed chair was established by the Dutch Normalization Institute (NEN). From July 2008 to –June 2009 he was chairman of ACTA’s Department of Oral Function and Restorative Dentistry. From June 1st, 2009 to June 1st 2019 he acts as dean of the combined faculties of Dentistry of the UvA and VU. Yet he acts as full professor in comprehensive dentistry and chairman of the Department of Restorative and Reconstructive Oral Care of ACTA. | |

| Thomas Rustemeyer is professor in dermato-allergology and occupational dermatology at the Department of Dermatology-Allergology at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers, The Netherlands. He is supervisor of immunological research of the university. He started his clinical training under supervision of Peter Frosch in Dortmund, Germany. After several years he has moved to Amsterdam for education in fundamental immunology. After getting his PhD in immunology, he restarted his dermatological training at the same university. He joined the department of Derk Bruynzeel and was further trained in dermato-allergology and occupational dermatology. After the retirement of Derk Bruynzeel he took over the responsibility of the department. Since then, he is active in supervising patient’s care and research addressing fundamental immunological as well translational research topics. Since many years, he is involved in patients’ care and research related to dental materials and oral cavity problems. He is (co-)author of more than 300 publications and editor of different textbooks. He is member and/or chairperson of various national and international societies active in dermato-allergology, immunology and occupational health, including govermental and regulatory affairs. | |

| Lars Björkman has a dental degree (DDS) from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and has practiced as a dentist both at private practice and public dental care. He has a PhD in environmental medicine from the Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institute. Lars is affiliated at the Karolinska Institute as associate professor in dental toxicology. He has been guest scientist at the US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences – (Epidemiology branch) in 1997 and 1998 and at the Nordic Institute of Dental Materials in Oslo (Norway) in 1998. From 1999 he has been Research Director and head of the Norwegian Dental Biomaterials Adverse Reaction Unit in Bergen, Norway, and affiliated as adjunct professor at University of Bergen, Norway. He has published papers mainly within the field of environmental medicine and dental toxicology. He has been principal investigator for two clinical trials regarding experimental treatment of adverse effects from dental biomaterials. | |

| Pekka Vallittu has earned his degrees in Dental Technology in 1988, Doctor of Dental Surgery and Doctor of Philosophy in 1994, received Adjunct Professorship in 1995 and specialized in prosthodontics and stomatognathic physiology in 2000. Presently, he is a Full Professorship and Chair of Biomaterials Science in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku, Finland and works as Dean of the Institute of Dentistry at the University of Turku and as the Director of Turku Clinical Biomaterials Centre and Member of the Board of the University of Turku. He is Subject Editor of Journal of Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials and Editorial Board Member of several international journals. His predominating research activity on fiber-reinforced composites has lasted over 30 years. | |

| Following completion of a degree programme in Materials Science with a First Class Honours Degree at The University of Limerick in the Republic of Ireland I was accepted into a postgraduate programme at the Biomaterials Unit at The University of Birmingham School of Dentistry in the UK. My PhD project focused on the influence of clinically induced variability in zinc phosphate dental cements and I was awarded my doctorate in 1998. The key findings were that cements manipulated in clinical practise are not representative of those employed for assessment according to specification standards. Therefore international standard tests are limited in scope as they fail to predict the performance of the cement when used clinically. Since 1998 I have further examined the influence of clinically induced variables in dental luting cements, investigated the possibility of encapsulated cement systems that eliminate operator induced variability and assessed different ceramic systems using clinically relevant testing methods. I have also extended my areas of interest to identifying potential amalgam replacement materials namely novel low shrink oxirane resin-based composites (RBCs) and gallium-based alloys. Since my first publication in 1999 I have to date published in excess of 130 papers and funding to support my research has come from a variety of sources including industrial, research council and charity organisations. | |

| Dr. Paulo Cesar, Associate Professor in the Department of Dental Materials, School of Dentistry, at the University of São Paulo (FO-USP), earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) in 1995. In 2002, Dr. P.F. Cesar was awarded his PhD in dental materials. He currently teaches dental materials to both undergraduate and graduate students and serves as advisor to doctoral candidates. Dr. Cesar’s current research includes applications of dental ceramics, their mechanical properties, microstructural implications, and fatigue behavior. At present, Dr. Cesar is Past President of Brazilian Division of the IADR (SBPqO) and Vice-President of the Latin American Region of the IADR. Previously, Dr. Cesar served as president of the Dental Materials Group of the IADR and also as president of the Academy of Dental Materials (ADM). He serves as a recognized reviewer for the following peer-reviewed journals: Journal of Dental Research, Dental Materials, Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, European Journal of Oral Sciences, Journal of the American Ceramic Society, Materials Science and Engineering, Journal of Materials Science, Materials Chemistry and Physics. | Ulrich Lohbauer received his Diploma in Materials Science and Engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) at the Technical Faculty, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1998. He obtained his interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree (Dr.-Ing.) under the supervision of Prof. P. Greil and Prof. A. Petschelt in Dental Materials Science in March 2003. Between 2003 and 2006, he was visiting scientist at Imperial College, London (Prof. L.L. Hench) and Athens University (Prof. G. Eliades). In 2007, he further graduated as Professor in Dental Materials (Habilitation) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He became a Fellow (FADM) and Board member of the Academy of Dental Materials in 2009. His research interests are into long-term behavior and lifetime assessment of resin composites and ceramics in a clinical context as well as mechanical and physical performance of dental restoratives and clinical fractography. He is founder and president of the Fracto Forum International (www.fractography.org). Ulrich Lohbauer is current past-president of the Academy of Dental Materials (2022-2024). He published more than 180 peer-reviewed manuscripts and holds an h-index of 48. | |

| Satoshi Yamaguchi is an associate professor in the Department of Dental Biomaterials at Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry. He obtained his PhD in Engineering in 2006 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in information science for two years. Dr. Yamaguchi has been an assistant professor in the Department of Dental Biomaterials at Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry since 2008. His research interests center on the fusion of in vitro and in silico approaches to address key issues in the dental materials field. Specifically, he applies artificial intelligence (AI) to material design and restorative/prosthodontic/implant treatments and evaluates various dental materials using in vitro/in silico combination analysis. Dr. Yamaguchi is an associate editor of the Dental Materials Journal, Frontiers in Dental Medicine | Dental Materials, and Journal of Prosthodontic Research. Additionally, he was a member-at-large at the IADR-DMG group (2020-2022). |

| Mark A. Latta, DMD, M.S., is Dean Emeritus and Professor of General Dentistry at the Creighton University School of Dentistry. He served as dean of the School from 2011 to 2021. He continues to contribute as an individual teacher/scholar with his own research and teaching and by collaborating internationally in research and teaching. Prior to being appointed dean, he served as the associate dean for research at Creighton from 1995-2011. He is a graduate of Lafayette College, Easton PA (BA Chemistry), University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia PA (DMD), York Hospital York, PA (General Practice Residency) and University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Baltimore MD (MS, Oral Biology). Following 4 years in private dental practice Dr. Latta joined the Laboratory Products Division of Dentsply International-now Dentsply/Sirona. He served numerous roles in Research and Development for the company ultimately serving as the Director of R&D. During his industrial career, he contributed to or was responsible for more than 20 new dental product introductions. He has been awarded more than 120 research grants investigating prosthetic materials, dental restorative materials, dental adhesives and cements. He has led numerous clinical trials of dental materials. He is a speaker and lecturer of international renown and has published more than 150 manuscripts and 200 abstracts and has presented at numerous state, national and international dental association meetings throughout the world. Dr. Latta, is a fellow in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, and a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national honorary dental society. He was awarded Faculty of Dentistry status in the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in. 2022. He has also served as president of the Dental Materials Group of the International Association for Dental Research. |
